All staff believe and expect they and their pupils can be better today than yesterday.
Principle 2
Pupils realise they are responsible for their learning and what they achieve. Pupils focus all effort and time on things they are in control of.
Principle 3
Born out of a Growth Mindset, pupils say things like 'I don't know how to do it ... yet', and 'I'm yet to be confident in knowing/doing that'.
Principle 4
Staff focus all effort and time on things they can control. Staff are the thermostat as well as the thermometer.
Principle 5
Staff: not policies, procedures or posters bring change. Staff need to continually promote #YesUCan.
Principle 6
All pupils have the same opportunity for learning in an environment where all feel a sense of belonging, safety, value, and respect.
Principle 7
Learning will mean mistakes are made and need to be corrected. Learning from mistakes is valued by all.
Principle 8
Everyone can think creatively, critically and flexibly.
Principle 9
Give an aspiring learner the right 'Habits of Mind'.
Principle 10
Stay in the growth zone and out of the anxiety zone. We learn best if we are cool, calm and collected.
Principle 11
Brain plasticity allows all to learn new concepts, building paths through proper practice and requires repeated practice to secure learning and make connections to prior learning.
